History:
Destileria Carúpano nestles in a valley amid the humid and fertile earth of the Hacienda Altamira in Macarapana. Founded in 1762, by a Spanish slave trader, captain Felix del Fierro, the Hacienda Altamira is a perfect paragon for the 200 years old history of Carupano's Rum. The transformations it has undergone through time, mirror the life cycle of rum itself. It was, at the Hacienda Altamira where the first aging processes took place. When aguardiente or firewater was produced and went unsold, it was kept in barrels imported from Europe, which originally had contained wine. The result was 'Aged Rum', a term denoting sugar cane alcohol that needs more time and care for its preparation, closer to a true liqueur art than just an adequate distillation technique.

As the true heir of these traditions, Destileria Carupano produces only the best rums, selecting the best alcohols from its unique distillation process and, for over two centuries, using only the purest water drawn from its own springs. These two elements, alcohol and water of formidable quality, hugely contribute to the rums distinctive identity.

In the same fashion, its traditional manufacturing methods and perseverance when mixing its two-year aged rums with very old original reserves and imported grape musts, guarantees the highest quality and unbeatable taste, aroma and style. A history, of experience, attention to detail and its present production capacity, allows Destileria Carupano to manufacture, not only the best rums, but also dry and sweet liqueurs, flavoured drinks, and spirits such as brandy and whisky. At the end f the day, only products that achieve the highest standard and contain the best ingredients are deemed good enough to carry and merit the name Destileria Carupano.

Distillery
Destilería Carúpano’s historic tradition dates back to 1762 when the Hacienda Altamira-Carúpano in Macarapana is established by the Spanish captain Felix del Fierro, and that is where, for the first time in Venezuela, what is now called Ron Añejo was produced. In 1954 the Morrison family bought the bicentenary Hacienda Altamira, abandoned since 1901, after the death of Thomas Massiani, one of the owners who strived to give the property the highest prestige and growth it had seen since 1840. The original intent of the new owners, taking into account the water wealth of the estate and its successful tradition of producing quality rums, was to re-establish its sugarcane milling capacity and the distillation and aging of rums for this purpose, they join forces with Alejandro Hernandez, owner of Industrias Pampero, and sharing equal ownership, create Destilería Carúpano, CA, a relationship that lasted until 1962. Destilería Carúpano remains a family business and has, thus far, been administered by four generations of that same family. Its equity is fully distributed among Venezuelan corporations. In 2010, the Destilería Carúpano Family Manifesto was prepared, as a basic agreement of compelling nature signed by the company shareholders, which seeks to reflect the guidelines in family relationships with the company and vice versa, to stabilize, harmonize and strengthen family relationships through understanding, maintaining and defining the core values, policies and commitments within the family itself and, at the same time, achieving the common good of the family, ensuring the continued and healthy development of Destilería Carúpano. This family Manifesto consolidates the commitment to absolute transparency in the operations of the company and the willingness to gradually delegate its daily management to non-family professionals.

Industrias Pampero, C.A. is a rum distiller established in 1938 in Venezuela. Pampero produces a range of premium rums, including a white rum Pampero Blanco (used to make cocktails), an aged rum Pampero Especial (a blend of dark Venezuelan rums aged for a minimum of two years in white oak casks), and a superior aged rum Pampero Aniversario (sold in a brown leather pouch).
Pampero's top markets are Italy, Spain and Venezuela. Its main production plant is located at a 19th-century family-owned "Hacienda La Guadalupe" estate, now "Complejo Licorero del Centro", in Ocumare, Miranda state, in the region of the Tuy river valleys, in the fertile central plains.
"Ron Pampero" is typically known by Venezuelans as "Caballito Frenao" (literally "Restrained Horse" but in this context "Rearing Horse"), in reference to its popular brand logo, a cowboy sitting astride a rearing wild horse in the Venezuelan plains, a scene comparable to that of the gaucho from the Argentinian plains, or Pampas, so therefore its name ("Pampero" literally means "from the Pampas", although the Venezuelan plains are called "Los Llanos").
The brand is so popular and recognizable that the term "Caballito Frenao" has entered Venezuelan slang and become synonymous with the word rum.

History
Pampero was created in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández, the son of a fisherman from Isla de Margarita.
Pampero is credited for having set the initial standards for rum production in Venezuela, and was the first rum to be accredited ‘Añejo’, by the Venezuelan government. Alejandro Hernández later on joined the political life of the country, occupying the office of Governor of the Nueva Esparta state and even running for the presidency of the country.
Despite popular belief and its long tradition, Industrias Pampero, C.A. is no longer a Venezuelan-owned company. After having been a part of United Distillers for some years, it is currently a division of Diageo, the world's largest liquor holding company.
Pampero rums have been awarded several international prizes, including Gold and Double Gold Medals as well as the Best Rum award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The Pampero Anniversario Rum is rated among the Top 20 rums in the world by Proof66.

Products:
All of Pampero rums, being "añejos" (aged), usually have a golden color that comes from having been matured in oak casks for several years, the duration depending on the type of rum.

History:
The rum-making tradition at the Hacienda Santa Teresa dates back two centuries, to a time when the enterprising colonizers plowed for the first time its fertile soil and planted the first sugarcanes. It was the year of 1796, a year that would mark the beginning of a continuous effort to produce the fine rums Santa Teresa is famous for.

The sugarcane is grown in the fertile valleys of Aragua, in the heart of Venezuela. Once harvested and processed, it is transported to Santa Teresa’s modern distillery. It is here where the master blenders, with the help of modern equipment, transform the raw material into world-renown Venezuelan rum.

The Hacienda Santa Teresa has carefully restored the old train station “El Consejo,” which is now open to visitors
