“Wherever there has been sugar production, there has been rum.”
Andre Winter, Operations Manager, St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies employee since 1976

St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies emerged from a tradition of the on-site, house-special rum production that was a common feature of the West Indian sugar plantation. Sugar’s by-product, molasses was fermented and distilled to rum, the demand for which has been a constant through the fluctuations of West Indian plantation economies. By the late 1950s, two distilleries remained, one at Dennery, the site of the Barnard family plantation, and the other Geest-owned at Roseau, the location of the now St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies.

St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies was formed in 1972 when the two distilleries amalgamated producing a now-discontinued blend of rum whose name reflected the merger, Denros Bounty Rum. The Barnard family bought out the Geest shares in 1992 and in 1997 sold shares to Trinidad-based Angostura Ltd., giving the company a wider regional presence and the capital to pursue the product development philosophy which has since characterised St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies. In 2005 the Barnard family, planters and rum distillers for over a century sold to CLICO, with third generation rum-maker Laurie Barnard staying on as Managing Director.

St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies, in the thirty nine (39) years since its inception, has grown from producing a single-label mass-market rum to a portfolio of premium rums and liqueurs.

Today, St Lucia Distillers Group of Companies boasts a range of over 25 rum and rum-related products which have performed exceptionally and won honours at international competitions.

History:
For the first half of the last century, St. Lucia was a sugar-cane growing island and a supplier of sugar to tens of thousands of British tea-drinkers. The sugar was refined
from the juice of the sugar cane at factories located in the middle of the cane fields.

In 1922, the Barnard family, which had hitherto been involved in the coaling industry in St. Lucia, purchased the large Estate of Dennery, located on the east coast, in the
valley of the same name. Ten years after that purchase, the young Denis Barnard founded a distillery at Dennery and, in 1972, merged the Dennery Factory Co. Ltd. with the Sugar
Manufacturers Distillery in Roseau Valley to form the St. Lucia Distillers Group of Companies which now operates from Roseau. Denis's son Laurie, is the present CEO of St.
Lucia Distillers. Angostura Limited of Trinidad and Tobago, who produce the world famous Angostura Bitters became shareholders in St Lucia Distillers Limited in1998.

Over the years the family-run distillery has been modernised by incorporating new technologies and adopting process improvements. A new bottling line was commissioned in 1998,
which has enabled the Distillery to blend and bottle a wide range of specialist rums and liqueurs. The installation of a pot still at the same time has meant that especially
high quality rums are now being produced for aging.

History:
The name refers to the 8 elements necessary for luxury rum production - environment, cane, water, yeast, distillation, tropical ageing, hand blending, filtration - and
essentially describes the craftsmanship that goes in to rum making.

The rums are produced by St. Lucia Distillers - the oldest distillery in St. Lucia - from hand selected and hand harvested, premium sugar cane grown in Guyana.

They are produced with water from St. Lucia's rain forest, that is naturally filtered as it flows through miles of underground volcanic rock formations.

The rums are fermented in 3 separate batches, using 3 different yeast strains (i.e. each batch uses a separate yeast strain). Each yeast strain imparts a unique flavor in to
the rums, and E8 are the only rums to utilize 3 strains of yeast in our production.

The rums are distilled using 3 different distillation methods - a 'John Dore' Pot still (often referred to as the Rolls Royce of pot stills) that produces very heavy, flavorful
and pungent rums. A column still that produces lightly flavored and light bodied rums, and a Vendome Kentucky Bourbon Pot still that produces pot still rums which have a very
unique flavor and are not as heavy and pungent as the John Dore pot still rums. It is the combination of these 3 styles of rums that contribute to unique flavors.

Both rums are aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. The Platinum rum is aged for 4 years, the Gold rum is aged for 6 years.

Hand blended together by a master blender using over 10 different types of rums.

They are then both charcoal filtrated. The Platinum undergoes a heavy charcoal filtration to remove all color, remove any residual impurities and render it crystal clear. The
gold is also charcoal filtrated but only to remove residual impurities but retain its golden amber glow.

The first rum brand to challenge the traditional rum category by using innovative contemporary packaging, which is backed up by super premium quality rums. No compromises on
packing and liquid.
