History:
Travellers Liquors Ltd began providing Belizeans and visitors assortments of distilled products in 1953. The company was founded by Master Blender Omario Perdomo. The company gained its name from the success it achieved in serving travellers along the main route to and from Belize City.
In 1992, the company completely upgraded the distillation facility, stepping away from other distilleries which use acids to speed up the fermentation process. Travellers employs high-test molasses with natural fermentation, coupled with a double-distillation method for smoother taste. Apart from the traditional distilled products like rum and vodka, Travellers also produces liqueurs and wines from Belizean fruits and is the only Belizean refinery that does this.
In 1995, Travellers passed standards set for vodka by the U. S. Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol & Firearms, clearing the way for its first shipment of 1,600 gallons of Cane Juice Vodka to the U. S. for sale in 39 states. A year later, Travellers captured two awards at the Annual Rum Tasting contest, the only company of the 131 who entered to win in two major categories.
It was in 2005 that the first shipment of One Barrel rum came to the USA. A single pallet of 75 cases was delivered to H A P L.L.C. in Mesa, Arizona. From those humble beginnings One Barrel has grown to be distributed in over twenty states.

Production
One Barrel rum is manufactured by the Perdomo family's distillery in Belmopan, the capital city of Belize. Travellers uses local molasses, fermented and distilled in a triple column continuous still. The aging shed, where One Barrel is aged about one year in charred oak casks, is in Belize City. Business offices, the bottling plant and shipping are in also at the main facility in Belize City.

During the 1950s in Belize, sugar was king and everyone with a plantation was rolling in money and making his own rum – or so it seemed.
In 1953, Jaime Omario Perdomo Sr, a man from very humble beginnings, began by opening a bar which he called TRAVELLERS. A logical name since most of his clientele were either traveling into or out of Belize City.
Travellers initially sold imported liquors and beers as well as locally made rums, but back then it was the practice of local bars to make their own rum blends for exclusive sale, and Don Omario didn't hesitate to follow tradition.
As Traveller's rums grew in popularity, Don Omario searched for a way to provide consistency to his blends. During this time, the recipe for the award winning ONE BARREL aged rum was also developed.
Growing competition in the rum manufacturing business made it harder and harder to get spirits of good consistent quality and so a few years later he entered into a similar partnership agreement with Luis Alberto Espat, who agreed to build the distillery in Belmopan this time.
During the 70s, Don Omario's sons, Romel and Mayito, came of age and joined him in the family business. Their enthusiasm and youthful energy translated into a tremendous growth spurt for the company.
In 1983 Don Omario decided to register Travellers as a limited company naming his children as shareholders. When Mr Espat decided to give up the distillery in 1989, Traveller's bought over his share of that company, gaining for the first time full control over all aspects of its production.
Since then, the distillery has been upgraded to enhance the quality of the spirits manufactured, and the aging and bottling plant infrastructure upgraded to meet strict export standards.
With creativity and foresight, Don Omario singled-handedly built the award winning Travellers Liquors Ltd, into a true legacy for his own children and for Belize. Today the Perdomo ensures the tradition grows and the family legacy lives on.

Ron Zacapa Centenario is a premium rum produced in Guatemala by Rum Creation and Products, a subsidiary of Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, and distributed and marketed by Diageo. Zacapa was created in 1976 to celebrate the centenary of the foundation of Zacapa, a town in eastern Guatemala.
It is made using the concentrated first-pressing sugar cane juice—called "virgin sugar cane honey" by the company—and is aged and blended using the solera method traditionally used for sherries. This process is overseen by master blender Lorena Vazquez. The company claims that part of their success lies in the fact that the barrels are stored 2,300 metres (7,500 ft) above sea level in an aging facility situated below the upper slopes of the mountains and volcanoes of Guatemala, where the temperature is an average of 62 °F (17 °C).
Early Zacapa bottles came in a bottle covered in a petate - a handwoven matting made from palm leaves which dates from the Mayan period. More recently they feature a band around the middle of the bottle.
The rum has won awards from different international competitions and is the first rum to be included in the International Rum Festival's Hall of Fame. The Beverage Testing Institute has given Zacapa a 95 point rating.

History:
Pirate’s Grog Rum Ltd bottles and distributes Pirate’s Grog Rum from the
Caribbean Island of Roatan, just off the coast of Honduras.

Under the leadership of the founder, and owner of Pirate’s Grog S.A (the
registered company in Honduras), Robert J. van der Weg has developed more than
50 distribution outlets in Central America. Strong market receptivity has
opened doors to large distributors, supermarkets and prominent restaurants and
bars.

In early 2012 PG incorporated in the United Kingdom under Pirates Grog Rum Ltd.
for distribution purposes worldwide. They are now able to distribute the rum in
1Liter, 750ML and 700ML bottles.

The spirit was crafted from a selection of rums distilled in the Caribbean and
then married together to make this superb new premium blend. The result is a
high-quality, delicious and smooth tasting golden rum, great in cocktails or on
its own.In addition to the flagship golden rum, PG are currently preparing to
launch a white rum and a ‘Reserva’, which will be followed in 2013 with a
‘well-saturated’ rum cake.

It is a blend of fresh, column still, neutral rum mixed with aged rum distilled
in a column still. It is then aged in small American oak wood, former Bourbon
barrels of approx 200 litres each. The aged rums used in the blend have been
aged in the Caribbean for 3 to 5 years. It also contains a small amount of
fresh high ester Jamaica pot still rum, to give the rum a bit more body and
backbone.

Ageing / Maturing the rum in a tropical climate, as in the Caribbean, is much
quicker than, for instance, in a North-West European climate, like it is done
with Scotch Whisky. Meaning to say that parcels of 3 and 5 year aged rum, but
aged in the Caribbean are much more concentrated in comparison to three to five
years in Scotland. It is said that ageing is three times as fast. The
evaporation of the rum from the barrels in the Caribbean is approx. 8 to 10 %
during the first year; in Scotland it is 2 to 3 % per year. This is called the
“angels share”.

History:
Flor de Caña is made by Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, S.A, (CLNSA) a member of Grupo Pellas. Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua was founded in 1937. Initially the company sought to develop a large sugarcane plantation so they built their first distillery in Chichigalpa (about 120km from Managua) in 1890.
After building the distillery, it was not until 1937 that Flor De Caña was introduced by CLNSA. Grupo Pellas was founded in 1950. It was the first company to distribute the rum, and in 1959 it was first exported to Venezuela, Costa Rica and other Central American countries.
During 1963 and 1965 the plantation in Chichigalpa underwent modernization updates. 8 years later a second distillery was constructed in Honduras. The Plantation in Chichigalpa was completely modernized in 1996.
On November 9, 2007, the Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua, which produces Flor de Caña, launched a new rum called "Zeta". Zeta combines 4 year old rums with citrus. The rum is targeted toward young adults 18 and over.

1890 - One hundred and twenty kilometers west of the capital city, in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, company is founded. Its initial purpose was to develop a large sugarcane plantation in western
Nicaragua, lands with a proverbial penchant for growing crops like sugarcane.
1937 - An independent company is founded within the plantation, Compania Licorera de Nicaragua, which was dedicated to producing and marketing rum. So was born the brand Flor de Cana.
1950 - Casa Pellas, founded by Mr. Carlos Francisco Pellas Vivas, becomes the first distributor of Flor de Cana products.
1959 - Flor de Cana slow-aged rum is first exported to the countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Venezuela. The brand is bolstered by the launching of 'Etiqueta Negra' (Black Label).
1963 - Modernization of the industrial plant occurs.
1971 - Construction of a second rum distillery in Honduras.
Between 1994 and 1996 the Chichigalpa plant was completely updated, while aged rums were first exported to markets outside of Central America.
1998 - Compania Licorera de Nicaragua receives a double ISO-9002 certificate of quality, distinguishing itself as the first rum producing company in the world to attain this standard of quality.
1999 - Rum Marketing International (RUMMI) Ltd. is founded in Miami, Florida to oversee the international expansion of Compania Licorera de Nicaragua's products.

Recognition
Flor De Caña is renowned as one of the best rums in Latin America, having won more than 100 international awards since 2000 and has been the most award-winning rum brand during this period. It has captured gold, silver, and bronze medals and has received high recommendations from wine and liquor enthusiasts.
Pepper Patch, a Tennessee-based specialty foods firm, regards Flor De Caña as the "perfect rum" and has added a rum cake to their product list made with the award winning 12-year-old Centenario rum.

Brand symbol
A distinctive aspect of Flor de Caña is its brand symbol present on all bottles. The logo depicts a road, with palm trees on the sides, that continues on to the horizon. A chain of volcanoes is also seen on the horizon. The symbol was inspired by the railroad, along with the palm trees on the sides, that led to the San Antonio sugar mill located in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, where the Flor de Caña rum was first produced, and where it continues to be produced today. The volcano in the center seen on the horizon is the San Cristobal volcano, the tallest in Nicaragua.

History:
The history of Varela Hermanos, S.A. goes back to the year 1908, when Don José Varela Blanco, a young Spanish immigrant, arrived in Panama and founded in the town of Pese, Province of Herrera, the Ingenio San Isidro, the first sugar mill in the recently created Republic of Panama.

In 1936, acceding to the wishes of his three older sons, José Manuel, Plinio and Julio, Don José authorized the distillation of sugar cane juice to produce liquor. This activity would be carried
out in a garage on his sugar mill property. This new business was called Hermanos Varela, in honor of the Varela brothers, who from the very beginning, were distinguished by their extraordinary
quality.

Before dying, Don José asked his nine children to maintain the cultivation of sugar cane for liquor production as a family heritage.

Today, almost a century later, a third generation heads Varela Hermanos, S.A.

Thus, keeping the familiar tradition and implementing state-of-the-art production sale and marketing techniques, VARELA HERMANOS, S.A. is one of the main liquor producers and distributors of Panama
and Central America, and begins the 21st century as one of the most solid and successful companies in our country.
